Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site or use the contact form, we collect the data provided. We also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection. We collect this data to respond to your inquiries, detect spam, and improve site security.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture may be displayed publicly in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to this website, please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images hosted on the website. Uploaded media is handled securely (e.g., not shared publicly without consent).

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. We use essential cookies for site functionality. If we use analytics cookies, you can manage preferences via our cookie banner. Cookies expire after one year or sooner if you clear your browser.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Review third-party policies. The firm does not control those sites.

Who We Share Your Data With

We share data only as necessary with: (1) spam detection services (e.g., Akismet) for site protection; and (2) our cloud-based CRM provider for client management. We do not sell data or share for marketing. All vendors are bound by confidentiality agreements. All data collected is solely for the purpose of contacting and maintaining a relationship with our clients.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments, rather than hold them in a moderation queue.

For form entries, we retain data until you request that we no longer contact you. Once such a request is made, your data will be added to our “Do Not Contact” list, which will be maintained indefinitely to prevent further contact. We retain data only as long as necessary. For example, contact form data is kept for up to 5 years to comply with legal requirements, then it is deleted or anonymized.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

You have the right to request the deletion of any personal data we hold about you. However, this does not include any data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You have the right to: access your data; correct inaccuracies; request deletion (subject to legal exceptions); and port your data. Submit requests to david@richardson.law; we respond within 30-45 days.

Where Your Data Is Sent
